Cleaning Carpet in Your Home

Wine, pasta, excrement from our pet … our carpets get problems from time to time. How do you deal with them? Simple, follow the tips we are going to give you and see for yourself.

Faced with a stain, it’s tempting to take out the sponge and start rubbing. But do yourself a favor and take two minutes to prepare a plan of attack, because a good strategy can mean the difference between a clean carpet and a stain that remains forever.

Several methods to better clean different types of stains exist (see below). But before you get down to business, here are some universal rules that apply to carpet cleaning.

1. Clean the stain as quickly as possible

“The most important thing is to get the job done before it gets a chance to sit,” says Chase, from lkncarpet.

2. Dry instead of scrubbing

Before cleaning, absorb the various viscous or dirt materials you can with a cloth or sponge. “The goal is to remove as much liquid as possible, reduce the size and spread the stain,” Shabahang adds. After that, remember to stamp rather than scrub vigorously.

3. Use as little product as possible

This reduces both the drying time and the risk of staining the carpet. For most stains, it is best to use sparkling water or washing up liquid (see the guide below).

4. Dry it well

Carefully dry with a towel after cleaning as carpets that remain wet may mold. You can also use a fan or hair dryer to speed up the process smoothly, says Shabahang.

After learning the basic rules of stain cleaning, we wanted to know if homemade methods really work. So we made spots and left them for 24 hours or more (because let’s be honest, we do not always take care of its spots immediately.) We have put into practice Shabahang’s recommendations, except when it is specified. how did that happen:

What the experts at lkncarpet say: Take off what you can by scratching. Mix a dose of soap with four doses of water and put everything on the stain with a sponge. Rinse with warm water.
